What Is the Stacklist MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants connect directly to the tools and services you already use. Think of it like giving your AI assistant a direct line to your Stacklist account.

Once connected, your AI assistant can chain multiple actions together in a single conversation. Here are some examples of what that looks like:

  • Research and create in one shot: "Search the web for the best co-working spaces in Austin, create a new stack called 'Austin Co-Working Spaces', add the top 10 results as cards with descriptions, then generate tags for each one."

  • Profile strategy: "Look at my profile, review my featured stacks, check the AI discoverability score on each one, and suggest which stacks I should feature to maximize visibility."

  • Analyze and fix: "Run an AI discoverability check on my 'Travel Gear' stack. If the score is below 80, analyze the content, apply the suggested improvements, and regenerate the summary."

  • Batch and enrich: "Here are 15 URLs I bookmarked this week. Add them all to my 'Reading List' stack, auto-tag each card, enrich them with images, and generate an updated FAQ for the stack."

  • AI content generation: "Look at my 'Best Restaurants in Nashville' stack and generate a summary I can share. Then create a new stack called 'Nashville Travel Guide', search the web for top attractions and hotels, and add the best results as cards."

The Stacklist MCP exposes 29 tools across five categories: content management, search, AI analysis, profile management, and workspace management.

1. Connect to Claude (Web / Desktop)

This is the fastest way to get started.

  1. Go to claude.ai and log in.

  2. Click your profile icon in the bottom-left, then go to Settings.

  3. Select Integrations from the sidebar.

  4. Click Add More and choose Custom MCP server at the bottom of the list.

  5. Enter the following:

    • Name: Stacklist

    • URL: https://mcp.stacklist.app/mcp

  6. Click Add and follow the authentication prompt to connect your Stacklist account.

Once connected, Stacklist will appear in your integrations list. You can now mention Stacklist data in any conversation and Claude will pull from your account.

2. Connect to ChatGPT

ChatGPT supports MCP servers through Developer Mode. Available for ChatGPT Plus and Pro users.

  1. Open chatgpt.com and click your profile icon, then Settings.

  2. Go to Apps & Connectors, then scroll down to Advanced Settings.

  3. Enable Developer Mode.

  4. Go back to Apps & Connectors and click Create in the top-right corner.

    • Name: Stacklist

    • MCP Server URL: https://mcp.stacklist.app/mcp

To use Stacklist in a chat, open a new conversation, click the + button in the message bar, select More, then Developer Mode, then Add sources, and enable Stacklist.

Requires a ChatGPT Plus or Pro plan with Developer Mode enabled.

4. Connect to Gemini CLI

Gemini only supports MCP servers through the Gemini CLI (command-line interface) at this time. If you are comfortable with using Command Line Interfaces, here’s how you can connect.

  1. Make sure you have the Gemini CLI installed.

  2. Open or create your settings file at ~/.gemini/settings.json.

  3. Add the Stacklist server to the mcpServers object:

{ "mcpServers": { "stacklist": { "httpUrl": "https://mcp.stacklist.app/mcp" } } }
  1. Save the file and launch Gemini CLI.

  2. When prompted, authenticate with your Stacklist account in your browser.

  3. Run /mcp in the CLI to verify the Stacklist server is connected and its tools are available.

Requires Gemini CLI installed and a Google account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a paid Stacklist account?

No. The Stacklist MCP works with any Stacklist account, including free accounts.

Is my data shared with the AI provider?

When you use the MCP, your AI assistant can access the Stacklist data you authorize during the connection. Your data is sent to the AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google) as part of the conversation context. This follows the same privacy rules as any other tool or integration connected to these platforms.

Can I disconnect the MCP?

Yes. Go to the integrations or connected apps settings in whichever AI assistant you're using and remove the Stacklist connection. Your Stacklist account and data remain unchanged.

Does this work on mobile?

Claude on the web (mobile browser) supports MCP integrations. Claude Desktop is Mac and Windows only. ChatGPT mobile also supports connected apps once configured on the web. Gemini CLI is a terminal tool and does not have a mobile version.

I connected but the AI can't find my data. What do I do?

Try starting a new conversation after connecting. Some platforms don't pick up new integrations in existing threads. If the issue persists, disconnect and reconnect the MCP server, or reach out to us.
